Position Information

Hours: 20 hours per week, standard Monday- Friday 8:00am- 5:00pm, flexibility is required on evenings and weekends

FLSA status: Exempt

Purpose of Position

Summary: The primary purpose of this position is to work with project principal investigator and the team on a National Science Foundation funded project on National Research Traineeship (NRT). Coordinates program related activities and initiatives, keeps official records, and executes administrative policies determined by or in conjunction with other officials. Duties are performed under limited supervision and with moderate latitude for the use of independent judgment.

The normal work schedule is 20.00 hours per week, with a standard work schedule from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Flexibility in the work schedule is occasionally required to support NRT program activities that occur outside the normal work schedule.

Statement of Duties and Responsibilities:

Supports the NSF NRT program goals and planning activities.

Manage finances, event scheduling and coordination, coordination about course scheduling, coordination with community partners, center for community engagement and independent advisory board members, assist with human subjects submissions and amendments, communication with program faculty and participants such as seminar speakers, setup team communication platforms and share regular and routine communication to student trainees, and assist in data collection, monitoring progress of student trainees, and input to program evaluation and assessment.

Assist in marketing and recruitment of potential trainees and facilitating the online course transition by communicating with the Division for Continuing Education.

Assist in the setup of the Equity Design Corp towards the end of the project period.

Serves as an advocate for the NSF NRT program, both within UTEP and in the community.

Oversees budget accounts and purchasing to show receipts and expenditures.

Reconciles NRT program accounts online and maintains back up documentation in an organized fashion.

Plans and coordinates special events (student activities, workshops, seminars, open houses, etc.) on behalf of the NRT program. Drives within city limits to pick up supplies or make deliveries for planned program activities.

Has knowledge of all Microsoft Office software and is able to learn and use institutional software systems.

Complies with all State and University policies.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.

Required Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university within area of assigned responsibility or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience: Three years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
